    For sure, we’d never want to use the Canon 7D on-camera mpcorihone in any way (never mix in post editing process with high quality separate audio source). Aside from a poor quality mic on the Canon 7D, we wouldn’t want to contaminate a good secondary audio recording with a quality mpcorihone that’s CLOSE to the subject.The real problem is the distance between the camera (typically 6+ feet) and the subject, picking up way too much reflected (hollow) sound.Google “inverse square audio”
