Filmmaker Conference 2008 – Funding Blueprints for Docs

Many successful films end up on DVD, TV or the silver screen -but they often begin with funding from public granting programs, private foundations and via donations through fiscal sponsorship programs. However, what makes for a good application to a funding source may be very different than what potential acquisitions execs look for when deciding what to buy. How do independent filmmakers get the monies they need to get their project off the ground? And how do these financing options effect filmmakers & distributors down the road?

Moderator: Julie Goldman, Partner, Cactus Three
Panelists: Claire Aguilar, Vice President of Programming, ITVS; Dori Bernstein, Director, Some Assembly Required, Gotta Dance; Wendy Ettinger, Co-Founder, Chicken and Egg Pictures; Thuy Tran, Program Officer, United State Artists
