About
Suited for extended, half-hour or hour-long series, Long-Form projects mark the coming wave of independent serialized television, audio, app-based and VR projects. These creators, with a project at the development stage, are accepted into IFP Week to introduce their project to platforms & channels, brand and marketing partners, agents, and representation.
All projects must consist of episodes intended to be at least 20 minutes in length and no longer than 60 minutes.
New This Year – Audio Series
Groundbreaking serialized stories told in audio formats are being brought into the IFP Week fold. Long-Form audio applications must adhere to Long-Form Series guidelines and eligibility requirements, which you can find below. Long-Form audio projects must have at least a sample recorded and must be intended to be at least 20 minutes in length per episode.
Criteria
- –Applicants must submit a show bible and a detailed overview of the arc of the project’s first season.
- –Projects cannot have premiered prior to IFP Week (September 2018) nor sold to any network.
- –Projects must be geared towards the long-form series marketplace (television or web) with episodes lasting no longer than an hour.
- –The submitted material cannot have been sold to any network, partner, studio or website ahead of IFP Week.
FAQ
Q: If I’ve made a feature film previously, am I still eligible to apply to this program?
A: Yes. Filmmakers who’ve made a feature previously are still eligible to apply for the Long-Form program.
Q: My project is intended to be closer to fifteen-minute episodes. Am I eligible for this program?
A: No. For short-form series projects, you should apply to the Short-Form program.
Q: I’m not based in the U.S., but I’m working on a long-form series. If it’s an international project, is it still eligible for this program?
A: Yes. All International projects must be submitted through one of IFP’s Presenting Partners. All submissions through a Presenting Partner are by invitation only and must have been confirmed by that partner prior to submission or by direct invitation of IFP. Q: I’ve shot part of the pilot episode of my project. Am I still eligible to apply?
A: Yes. So long as your project is not in active production or post-production, you can still apply.
Q: My project is a narrative, multi-platform series. Can I still apply to the Long-Form program?
A: Yes. On the application, you’ll see a field where you can define the “format” of the project. There, please make sure you select an option that best defines your project. It’s also recommended that you use the ‘Project Summary’ field on the application to describe any cross-platform intentions with the project.
Q: Is there a benefit to applying before the Early Deadline?
A: Yes. To encourage early submissions, applicants submitting by the Early Deadline pay a $45 submission fee. Applicants submitting by the Late Deadline pay a $60 submission fee.
