Durga Entertainment Filmmaker Grant


The Durga Entertainment Filmmaker Grant at IFP celebrates talented artists and recognizes the importance of career and creative sustainability for active, working filmmakers who are also balancing a filmmaking career with parenting. The grant provides a $20,000 unrestricted prize to encourage the recipient to continue on her or his career path of making quality independent films.

Eligible applicants must be:

• An American citizen (permanent resident or dual-citizenship), and

• A narrative filmmaker, and

• A writer/director and

• A filmmaker who has completed at least one feature length narrative film, a strong collection of short films (2+), or a multi-episode web series, and

• A parent, and

• An alum of one of IFP’s signature programs from the last five years (2009 – 2014), specifically: RBC’s Emerging Storytellers, or RBC’s Emerging Storytellers Web Series, or IFP Independent Film Week No Borders International Co-Production Market, or the IFP Independent Filmmaker Labs.


To apply, fill out the application here and submit a link to a 10 minute sample of previous work (excerpt or reel). Please include a letter of intent describing your long-term vision of your career and how the grant will help you achieve professional goals, including a brief statement of need.
