Participants of the inaugural Emerging Visions were eligible to apply for the RBC Emerging Filmmaker competition, open only to the 25 filmmakers who took part in the 2011 program. Winner Adam Bowers was awarded a cash prize and the opportunity to direct a trailer campaign for RBC, which was filmed in the summer of 2012 and overseen by ad agency BBDO Toronto. Participants competing for the RBC prize were asked to submit a budget and proposal to direct three spots for RBC, following-up on their popular “Uncle Marv” advertising campaign from 2011. Ryan O’Nan received a cash prize as runner-up.
