In 2010, IFP took on a larger leadership role in the festival community, creating the Festival Forum to bring together leading international and domestic programmers to discuss the future of festivals. Over 45 U.S. & International festival programmers and executives took part, including representatives from Berlin, Cannes, Full Frame, Hot Docs, New York Film Festival, New Directors, Rotterdam, Slamdance, Sundance, SXSW, and Tribeca.
The Festival Forum’s primary goal is to provide relaxed, productive environment where festival programmers from around the globe can meet formally and informally to discuss issues that impact both their organizations, as well as the collective goals of audience building and talent cultivation in the independent film community.
Participants take part in a comprehensive immersion program which included industry meetings, private roundtable discussions, “sneak preview” screenings, and Meet the Programmers sessions aimed at providing networking opportunities as well as early access to over 250 filmmakers and their latest “works-in-progress.”
