Submit Your Pitch

Independent Filmmaker Project

It all starts here – literally! A pitch is the most important first impression any screenwriter will have to make in the journey from script to screen – and, like so many first impressions, a pitch often represents a make-or-break moment for the life of a project. During two special pitch intermission sessions, four lucky screenwriters will have the opportunity to pitch their screenplays to a panel of industry experts who make their living giving the green light – when the pitch is right, that is.

Pitch Intermission Project Pitchers will have exactly three minutes to pitch their scripts to our panel of experts including Cinetic’s Dana O’Keefe, producers Ron Simons (Gun Hill Road) and Dia Sokol (creator & executive producer, MTV’s “16 & Pregnant”) and CollegeHumor.com senior staff writer David Young.

Two pitchers will be pre-selected from our Call for Submissions; the other two will be selected from the Script to Screen Audience – take a chance and put your name into the mix when you arrive at Script to Screen. We’ll have no idea who’s selected to pitch until seconds before they’re called to the stage in truly unpredictable, indie fashion – so get ready!

And there are prizes! Our expert panel will decide which pitch they think has what it takes to go all the way. The winning pitcher will receive a special prize package including a week-long pass to attend the 2012 Independent Film Week Filmmaker Conference, swag from WGAE and other organizations, recognition, and more!

To enter for a chance to win a free ticket to Script to Screen and the opportunity to pitch your project LIVE! at the event, email your pitch (30 words or less) by Thursday, March 8 to jsylva@ifp.org. Pitches can be for fiction projects on any format: feature screenplay, television, web content, whatever you can dream up! In addition to your 30-word pitch, please specify in one sentence or less your intended format and genre. Submissions that are overlong will not be considered.

The two pitchers selected to present their pitches at Script to Screen will be notified by Monday, March 12 and will be offered a complimentary ticket to attend Script to Screen. You must be able to attend the Script to Screen Conference in New York on March 17 to enter this contest.
