With so many filmmakers pushing the boundaries of truth and fiction in their works, we’ll discuss the newly revitalized forms of the neorealist narrative feature and the dreamlike non-fiction feature. Hear from some filmmakers working in these realms about their works, and the kinds of creative choices they’re making when they are crafting their films, working with non-actors, and constructing scenes.

Moderator David Wilson Co-Conspirator, True/False Film Fest Together with Paul Sturtz, Wilson founded the Ragtag Film Society in 1998, the Ragtag Cinema in 2000, and the True/False Film Fest in 2004, all in his hometown of Columbia, Missouri. When not festing, Wilson also directs his own films.
Panelists Lotfy Nathan, 26, is a fellow of the Garrett Scott Foundation, The Peter Reed Foundation, IFP Lab, IFP Spotlight, and a recipient of the Grainger Marburg Grant. He received the HBO Emerging Artist award for his first film: “12 O’Clock Boys”, which had its World Premiere at SXSW 2013.
Damon Russell Producer / Director, Fuzzy Logic DAMON RUSSELL has worked in television and produced a number of shows, including A&E's The First 48 and MTV's Made. In 2011, Damon directed the feature length film Snow On Tha Bluff (2012). He is currently producing the feature version of the 2013 Oscar winning short film Curfew.
Lynne Sachs Filmmaker, XY Chromosome Project Lynne Sachs makes essay films that weave together personal memoirs, collage, intricate sound design and poetry. Lynne’s experimental documentaries work in the space between a community’s collective memory and her own perceptions. Her films have screened at the New York Film Festival, Sundance, and the Museum of Modern. www.lynnesachs.com
