Tickets to Wednesday's Meet the Decision Makers (MDM) sessions gets you five small group meetings with various industry professionals that can help you launch your project. MDM tickets grant you access to all four of the day's sessions: Programmers & Funders, Artist Services Organizations & Advisors, Digital Distribution, Distributors, Managers & Advisors. 

Tickets are limited and meetings are first-come first serve! Meeting selection details will be sent to Meet the Decision Makers ticketholders via e-mail in early September. 

Artist Services organizations can be the unsung hero of a production - they have the tools and knowledge filmmakers need to gain access to grants, partners, and other critical resources. Meet those organizations that can help you further your project.

Panelists

Darrien Gipson
National Director, SAGindie

Darrien Michele Gipson was formerly the Vice President of Production for Def Pictures. As National Director of SAGIndie, Darrien is responsible for the strategic planning and oversight of SAGIndie. Her duties include workshops and panels, sponsorship negotiations, national advertising campaigns, and SAGIndie.org, the online resource for independent filmmakers.

Kristine Hsu
Staff Attorney, Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts

Kristine Hsu is a Staff Attorney at Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts. Her responsibilities include counseling clients, teaching classes, and managing VLA’s interns and fellows. Kristie graduated from The George Washington University Law School with honors in 2012.

Ursula Lawrence
Lead Strategic Organizer, Writers Guild of America, East

Ursula Lawrence is Lead Strategic Organizer for the Writers Guild of America, East where she is charged with expanding the Guild’s membership in independent film and digital media. Before joining the staff of the WGAE she worked as a Field Representative for the Directors Guild of America in New York.

Marcia Smith
President, Firelight Media

Marcia Smith is a writer, filmmaker, and non-profit executive. During her tenure, Firelight Media produced over 20 hours of film for national broadcast on PBS and garnered every major award in television. Smith was honored by the Writers’ Guild for Best Documentary writing for The Murder of Emmett Till.

Juliana Steele
Program Specialist, Fiscal Sponsorship, Fractured Atlas

Juliana Steele provides support for over 3000 fiscally sponsored artists as the Program Specialist for Fiscal Sponsorship at Fractured Atlas. In this capacity, she has traveled throughout the US presenting on fiscal sponsorship, grants and crowdfunding. Prior to Fractured Atlas, she was the Programming Coordinator at The Tank, a presenter of new and emerging arts in Manhattan.

Ethany Uttech
Grants Director, Brooklyn Arts Council

Ms. Uttech supervises BAC's range of regrant programs and professional development programs. Each year, she provides technical assistance to 100+ grantees, guiding them through all stages of project development, the grant application process, and implementing funded projects.

Jeffrey Winter
Co Exec Director, The Film Collaborative

Jeffrey’s areas of specialty include niche distribution, niche marketing, and festival/non-theatrical/special events distribution. Representative recent films include Kirby Dick’s 2013 Oscar Nominated documentary THE INVISIBLE WAR, 2013 Sundance Award-winner A RIVER CHANGES COURSE, 2012 Sundance Award-winner VALLEY OF SAINTS, and 2011 Sundance Award-winner UNDERTOW (CONTRACORRIENTE).
